Southwest Florida Homes During Winter Time
Residents of Southwest Florida homes have been experiencing an unusually chilly winter, in fact, early morning temperatures this week dropped to an atypical low mark of 34 degrees, something to which we’re NOT really accustomed here in Naples. Of course, by afternoon, the shining sun warms everything up right away, but for those now acclimated to the warmth, recent weeks have forced residents to retrieve sweaters and coats long buried away in closets. One of the biggest challenges in confronting a cold spell – you can’t complain to Northern friends. They have NO compassion. Tell them, you’re having difficulty enjoying an Arnold Palmer from your lanai because it is 40ish degrees, and they simply sneer -“What have you got to complain about!”
There are certain advantages that come with a cold spell. For one, it prompt certain havoc among the local mosquito population. On another hand, it also makes it easier to recognize locals from the tourists. The tourists are those wearing regular shorts, sandals and a bathing suit at the beach – the local tend to dress a bit warmer. Of course, the greatest thing about Winter in Southwest Florida is seeing the return of so many of our seasonal residents (Snow Birds) returning to their winter homes. While it may create a little more traffic on the road, the restaurants enjoy the uptick in business, as do hotels, retailers and more. My community at Wiggins Bay always enjoys seeing the return of our Winter friends.
For those who come and rent during these winter months, you might be surprised to learn that the mortgage payments on a condo actually compete with what you’re paying in rent. And for the months that you return to your northern home, you’d have no trouble finding a renter whose payments would actually cover your mortgage fees.
My firm’s property management services division can help you manage all aspects of the rental process, and of course, I can help you find that ideal, seasonal, Southwest Florida homes.
